Family portraits for families who want more than the normal family portrait
Why I shoot how I shoot
Way back in the 80’s I was dragged around all the portrait studios, I was made to sit in strange poses and smile at the camera. I didn’t do that too well, I pulled faces and was generally a pain in the butt. I know this as i’ve met many of the photographers since and they agree, I was a pain in the butt.
That is why the style you see here is much more natural and relaxed, no studios for families just fantastic locations be that your home, out in nature or even in a unique urban environment.
Standards session are $245 for about an hour, with return clients $110.
Documentary session start at $354 for new clients and $220 for return.
Prints start at $165 and we are able to custom create amazing artworks to fit your home.
For something a bit different, urban lines, bold colours and big spaces. Perfect places for families to explore and also makes fantastic artwork for modern homes.
Life Documentary Session
Home or on holiday, a real documentary of your life as it is. This is about more than what you look like, it’s how you interact, where you live and how you do it.

Some Nice Words From Clients
Alan is an absolute dream to work with. I'm very nervous in front of the camera, he made me feel super comfortable, and at ease. He is very professional and has an eye for the little things that make the picture truly amazing!Thank you so much Alan. Love to work with you again sometime!

Alan is such a creative and energetic photographer. His pure enthusiasm is a joy to witness. In my role as a celebrant, I meet many photographers, and Alan is a ``stand out`` amongst them, one of those people who is happy to go ``the extra mile`` to capture the perfect shot. His creativity oozes out of him. Highly recommended.
- Janet - Brighton
Seriously people, this guy is so talented. He has a gift at capturing special moments with a sensitivity that is seldom found in family portraits. If you are looking for someone to create photography that truly captures the essence of your family I cannot recommend Alan highly enough. He is a gentle soul with a slightly wicked sense of humour that instantly makes everyone feel at ease! Will be using him for every special occasion from here on!!
- Lisa - Black Rock
Alan from Photobat is an amazing photographer and I can't recommend him enough! He skillfully captured the personalities of my boys, creating beautiful, natural shots which we will always cherish. He is great with kids and knows their limits so the session was kept fun and dynamic. You're in safe hands with Alan!

I was so excited to hear that Alan was moving Photobat to Bayside! The first time he photographed my children was 11 years ago when my eldest was two and a half. Since then he has photographed both my children as preschoolers, my baby sister's wedding and my parents 40th and 45th wedding anniversaries. Thank you Alan for providing my family with these fantastic memories.
