Canvas prints, especially the boxed variety, have been flying off our door and onto family walls since we first introduced them.

We’ve partnered with the same professional print lab from the beginning, and even our earliest canvas prints still look as vibrant as the day they were made.
Fun fact: My wife ordered a canvas from me back in 2006 (the year we met), and it’s still hanging in our home, looking just as good as new. (She keeps joking that I owe her a refund, well, I think she’s joking…)
Let’s dive into the details that make our canvas prints so special and what to watch out for with other printers
Overview of Canvas and Boxed Canvas Prints
Quality of Materials: Our canvas prints are made from a 450gsm US-made archival canvas, ensuring top-notch quality and durability. This high-grade cotton blend canvas is lightly textured, free from bleach and artificial whiteners, allowing your image to print beautifully and last a lifetime.
Ink and Print Quality: We utilise genuine Canon pigment inks known for producing high-definition images with crisp tones and vibrant colours. These archival pigment inks are designed to withstand the test of time, with an independent research lab confirming their longevity of up to 75 years without fading.
Frame Construction: Our prints are stretched over hand-cut, double-profile hardwood frames, constructed from premium meranti hardwood. Unlike cheaper alternatives that use flimsy pine, our hardwood frames prevent the edges of the print from cracking and ensure the print remains taut and does not warp. The unique frame profile also ensures that the print sits flush against the wall, with a clean outline that does not show through the front of the canvas.
Lamination and Protection: Each canvas print is coated with a satin laminate that provides UV protection, waterproofing, and antifungal properties, helping to preserve the integrity and appearance of the print over time. This laminate includes UV blocking particles to maintain the vibrancy and freshness of the colours.
Framed and Boxed Canvas Options: Our framed canvas prints offer a modern take on traditional stretched canvas, featuring three sleek frame choices: oak, black, and white. Boxed canvases provide a deeper, more pronounced profile with a 5.5cm depth and a small gap between the canvas and the frame, adding a distinctive gallery-quality finish.
Guarantee and Durability: All our canvas products come with a 75-year unconditional guarantee, which covers accidental damage, freight damage, or even a change of mind, ensuring customer satisfaction and confidence in the longevity of their purchase.
Installation: Boxed canvases come equipped with D-Ring hangers rather than the traditional wire hanging system to prevent stretching over time and to keep the artwork flush against the wall. This system requires simple hooks and screws for installation, emphasising ease and stability.
Potential Issues with Cheap Canvas Prints
Material Quality: Cheap canvas prints often use lower-quality, lighter canvas materials that may sag or warp over time. They may also include artificial whiteners that can degrade and turn yellow, affecting the image’s appearance.
Ink and Printing: Lower-quality prints might use non-archival inks that fade quickly when exposed to light, resulting in a print that loses its vibrancy and definition within a few years.
Frame Construction: Inexpensive frames are typically made from softer woods like pine, which can bend or break under the tension of the canvas. This results in a print that looks warped or bulges from the wall.
Lamination and Protection: Without adequate protective coatings, cheap prints are vulnerable to UV damage, moisture, and fungal growth, all of which can drastically shorten the lifespan of the canvas.
Overall Craftsmanship: Cheaper canvas prints often lack professional finishing touches, such as taped backs and quality hanging hardware, which can affect both the durability and the visual appeal of the print.
