Week 11 – Amy Salisbury – Seasoul Sauna

I met Amy briefly at a business drinks event last year. We chatted for a few minutes, and she’s been on my mind quite a bit since then.

You know when you meet someone and their energy is just special? That’s Amy. Those few minutes had an impact; you could just tell she so much about giving and helping mixed with a healthy dose of smiling and laughing.

On top of that, she had a crew of equally remarkable energy folk with her. I learnt that most of them were part of the Mordi Sea Dippers, a cold water swimming group that Amy started and has just had its 3rd birthday. A whole community has sprung up around the dip, not just a couple of people jumping in the water. It’s a celebration of community, gratitude and life. (I admit I haven’t been yet, but I do have it in my diary… seriously, Amy, I do!)

But more about them another time, let’s get back to Amy.

One of her babies is Seasoul Sauna, a thermowood barrel sauna located at the Mordialoc Sailing Club. So you can sauna and then jump straight into the bay, just like those Scandinavians do. And this sauna is only the start. Plans are underway for more saunas and experiences in new locations.

I wanted to snap this portrait differently, so the main portrait is a Polaroid from my vintage Polaroid. I feel the energy and fun of a Polaroid suit Amy, but we also like the other real camera shots.

Check out Seasoul Sauna’s socials to get inspired to head down and give it a go. Go book in; I will be very soon… once the water gets cold enough to get the real hot to cold fun.
