Twenty years ago this August, I was introduced to a large, friendly man called Mikelangelo. We were out the back of the famous Spiegletent in Edinburgh. We got chatting and then discovered that his current off-tour address was Tasmania. Which is handy, as that is where I used to live.
A few years later, I met him and his Blacksea Gentlemen, saw their show, was amazed at the music and show they put on and ended up snapping them standing on little islands (That shot and more over at ShadowBat)
When I noticed their caravan was passing through Melbourne, I reached out and we went and played in a backyard in Fitzroy. A reasonably quick session, as they had to leave and rehearse for the first show of their tour.
We had fun, there were laughs, and mentions of how old we all were now… we will skip that big…
