I met Troy when he asked me to snap a portrait of him in this style, the same style I’d been photographing backstage at the comedy festival.
While I did try to smuggle him down there during the festival, the timing just didn’t work out. So we met up at my place, and I set it all up in my courtyard.
As you can see, it’s a simple set-up with my dodgy pop-up background. I like the ability to make great portraits with as much or as little space as possible.
I went with that main image because I love the feel of it… did it match Troy? Not really, he’s more the image at the bottom. But I love the feel of it, and keeping it untouched adds to the whole feel of the image.
