Last year, I photographed Carolyn, her kids, and her parents for what happened to be one of my favorite family portraits of the year.
It was winter, and it was raining, but it was warm. There was laughter and fun, and even more water than the rain.
Since then, I’ve got to know Carolyn a bit more. I knew before the other session about what was going on.
Kicking cancer in the dick is her full-time job at the moment… on top of being a mum and all that general life-living stuff.
But it’s that life-living stuff that she’s doing that is totally inspiring.
Yep, the cancer is there. Yep, it’s not great. But the way she grabbed it by the neck, kicked it in the balls, slapped it in the face, and yelled at it to bugger off, is so admirable.
